I’m Leland And Here Is My Story

In 2010, I found myself fat and out of shape. I lied to myself and said that “Freshman 15” was muscle that I gained from going to the gym half-heartedly.

But first, let’s go back in time. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a six-pack. Some of the “older” folks would always tell me how jealous they were that I could eat anything and not gain an ounce of fat. Protein and vegetables were not in my vocabulary. I lived off pizza, chicken nuggets, frozen burritos, french fries, and fast food.

Fast forward to college. My best friend saw one of my pictures in the school newspaper and pointed out that I had a massive double chin. At first, I said to myself “There ain’t no way”, but after a closer look, I indeed had a double chin.

This came as quite a shock to me because let’s be honest, men don’t really notice these kinds of changes in the mirror. It took another person pointing out the flaw in my physique for me to notice the start of a downhill spiral.

Armed with this new revelation, I decided it was time to take immediate action. I browsed the internet for programs and diets and finally came across a product from an infomercial. I also overheard my cousin’s husband mention that he had “attempted” the program and failed.

We had some animosity from the past and it was at that moment I decided I was going to do this program and not only complete it but absolutely destroy it. Would he ever know I did? No, but damn it was going to feel good knowing I completed something he attempted and did not succeed.

With him being previously in the military it was going to make my accomplishment that much sweeter. If you are a woman, then you may not understand the macho man’s ego-driven actions and the lengths a man will go to just to prove a point. If you are married, then maybe you do lol.

4 months later and I had completely reshaped and transformed my body. People started to notice me. Women started to compliment me and it felt GOOD. After living a life where I had heard minimal compliments this only added fuel to the fire and gave me a tremendous amount of momentum.

The best part about it all? I earned it and no one could take that away from me.

My Introduction To Helping Others

I posted my results on Facebook and YouTube because let’s be honest, I was proud of myself and wanted others to see my hard work. It was also a way for me to document my progress. I had a decent following already so I had a few people ask me what I did to get my results.

I started a Facebook group and invited people to join for free. I started to post daily tips and just told everyone exactly what I had done over the last few months and how they could get started too.

People started seeing results and that gave me another level of confidence that what I had done actually worked. I followed a proven system and made a decision not to stray from it. I showed up daily and did my best. Whatever that looked like.

I’m not some special person who has magical willpower and no cravings. I’m human like the rest of us. If I can do it, then I know for a fact you can too and that’s what gets me excited about fitness and life.

Over a decade later and the #1 thing I’m known for if you would ask anyone is knowledgeable about fitness and health. Not a day goes back someone asks me for advice on some random topic about losing weight, supplements, the best diet, building muscle, etc.

I said all that to say this. I remember what it was like just getting started and it was information overload. I’m going to make it stupid simple to get in the best shape of your life quick and easy through the information you will find on this blog.

See you on the inside…
